Fun. Come join the party! We greet all guests with kindness, warmth, and welcome. You'll never stand in a line at Take It Away. Instead, give your order to one of our associates, grab a drink, dive into a bag of chips, and make yourself at home.
Community. We work hard to be a relevant part of the UVA community by responding to the needs of the people we serve. We engage in the efforts of students by donating to UVA groups' philanthropy projects and service outreach.
We are the face of our community and our country, and are proud to employ individuals of different faiths and races, with different ideas of family and from different parts of the country and the world. All are welcome and included at Take It Away.
Take It Away opened in the summer of 1992 and has become a true UVA tradition. Alumni tell us that a visit to Charlottesville isn't complete without lunch at Take It Away!
Our unique proprietary House Dressing sets us apart. "House", as the regulars call it, has been a local favorite for decades, and the phenomenon continues to spread. We have people from around the country stop by Take It Away to buy a jar of House Dressing to take home!
